UDUMO in a nutshell
UDUMO is an enriching revolutionary new concept of choral collaboration that uses experiential learning to mentor, network, share, grow and develop conductors and singers to ultimately perform together in mass choirs in a spectacular gala concert!
The 2022 Gauteng UDUMO - our Grande Premiere - consisted of 18 choirs conducted by 6 expert conductors. Choirs were mentored and this built up to a 2-day event that consisted of fantastic development sessions hosted at the spectacular auditorium of Moreleta NG Church in Pretoria. The gala concert included individual mass choir performances of a Primary school, two high school and one adult choir each consisting of 250 singers. These choirs combined into a 750-strong participant mass choir that performed a variety of items on the evening of 8 October 2022.
Choristers participating in future UDUMO's will get exposure to some of the world's best conductors and we send all participants back to their communities re-energised through fun, sharing and a brilliant performance opportunity.
UDUMO 2023 saw 3 UDUMO events in Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban - engaging 57 choirs, 51 conductors, 2423 singers with 18 facilitating conductors.
The Purpose
- Include representatives from as many choral programmes as possible to create shared experiences and development opportunities
- Create exposure to high-level choral experiences through performing with highly experienced Choral Conductors with exceptional choirs
- Through experiential learning gain vocal development, further musicianship skills, camaraderie, and an aesthetic musical experience through the process of preparation and rehearsals with singers from other choirs /cultures /regions
- Get exposure to a high standard of music, the rehearsal processes including warm-ups, staging of singers for a piece and performance standards during concerts
- Create networking and learning opportunities for conductors during the process while seeing masters in action
- Creating new performance experiences for singers that promotes self worth, satisfaction and pride

Final events in Northern Cape and Free State and launching new UDUMOs in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

Final events in Limpopo and Mpumulanga and launching North-West & Eastern Cape.
2027:
Final events in North-West and Eastern Cape and launching Pilot National Event.
